I see the forest and the trees

Welcome! I’m Vee White, and I provide writing and editing across diverse content areas and media, although I specialize in medical content.

I have worked with large publishers and nonprofits, small businesses and independent authors. Through my work at Vee White Editorial, I live out my belief that language is a living, evolving thing—not static. I will organize, sharpen and clarify your content while ensuring it maintains your unique voice. You will always receive my personal touch and commitment to quality.

I had my first taste of the publishing process in 2003 when, as an intern, I proofread academic texts for Temple University Press. Later, I researched primary resources and wrote footnotes for The Harriet Jacobs Family Papers, edited by Dr. Jean Fagan Yellin. That experience influenced the care and attention I bring to each of my projects.

My immersion into the world of publishing and content development continued with teaching information science workshops addressing research methods, copyright and plagiarism at Moore College of Art & Design; editing print and web marketing copy at the Community College of Philadelphia; and entering medical publishing in 2008, working with and then leading print and online product development at two major publishers. In 2014, I established Vee White Editorial (formerly Write Vision Services).

I graduated summa cum laude from Temple University with a BA in English and an Honors Program Certificate. I completed six hard science classes and some pre-nursing curriculum during my undergraduate studies, but realized I was better suited to the content than the practice. Throughout my academic endeavors, I was a President’s Scholar, a Ronald McNair Scholar and received multiple writing awards.

I have continued my pursuit of excellence and professional development as a member of the American Medical Writers Association and ACES: The Society for Editing. In 2020 I was one of the three recipients of the inaugural Richard S. Holden Diversity Fellowship, which aims to promote diversity and inclusion by helping editing professionals to access continued training and achieve career goals. I currently volunteer on the Diversity & Inclusion Assessment Task Force with the American Medical Writers Association and the Communication Committee for ACES. I’m leading the New Editor Guide Task Force, a subcommittee for the latter. I recently founded the LGBTQ+ Editors Association.

When not working, I love to hike, garden and participate in book clubs. Volunteering as an editor with a health-related nonprofit and social justice organizations is also important to me. One of my dearest memories is hiking among the giant sequoia. The ancient, gigantic trees lend unique perspective.

I look forward to hearing about your project and getting to know you!
